When Acronis True Image Home isn't running, I'm getting a popup with a special offer. If I click anywhere on the ad, Acronis True Image Home is launched and I get a special offer. I clicked on "Don't show again", but the ads keep popping up.

I thought my computer was infected, so I did a clean install of Windows 10 and just Acronis True Image Home and it's still happening.

Any thoughts on how to disable the popup other than uninstalling? I won't be able to use my laptop for work presentations for fear of this ad being displayed on software I've already purchased.

If I can't disable it, any good free or paid alternatives?

From what I can find online, Acronis has a history of shady practices and incredibly inconsiderate behavior towards its customers. Unfortunately, in its quest to make you spend more money on the newest version of True Image Home, the application will keep badgering you with promotional popup windows telling you about the "advantages" of purchasing the newer version. It's not actually dangerous for your PC, but as far as I know, there's no way to stop this while the tool is installed on your PC.

As far as alternatives go, I recommend checking out CrashPlan or Macrium Reflect. If you're going to uninstall Acronis, according to its own website, the application may not "go quietly", so I recommend using Revo Uninstaller or GeekUninstaller to get the job done.

I have Acronis True Image Home 2012 on my computer. I had to have my computer on and when I got it back my Acronis needed activation. I tried several times and now it is deactivated and has stopped working. How do I reactivate so it will work?

If the program has been activated, then open it and go to Help > Register or if the option doesn't appear, uninstall it then perform another installation and the system will ask for your serial number. If you have errors or the software can't be registered, use the contact us options to get in touch with the support team.

Always a good idea to do a new install of a new version. For example, if you have version 10 and you want to install version 11, uninstall the previous version. But installing a new build (11.3 over 11.2), you can simply install over the existing one.

You can apply all the updates released to the program as long as you don't change the main version of the product. This means that you can update from 11.0.0.XXXX to 11.1.0.XXXX free of charge but if you want to update from 11.0 to 12.0, you will have to pay a fee. It's usually small because you are already a customer. Yes, you can apply free updates to your application.

Dear Sir: I just purchased my copy of your True Image Home 2009 less than a month ago and was notified of a upgrade BUT Acronis is apparently trying to con me into buying a copy of Acronis Home 2010! I consider this devious to say the least and will refuse to "upgrade" because there seems to be a lack of integrity on Acronis' part! I await a honest explanation.

Uninstall like you would any other application (if you have Windows). Start → Control Panel → Uninstall Program, click on the program and hit Uninstall.
